Description

The iFi Audio xDSD Gryphon is a portable digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) and amplifier that aims to deliver a high-quality audio experience. It is designed to be a versatile device that excels in both its digital and analogue performance, making it a two-in-one device, much like its mythical namesake.

Key features of xDSD Gryphon include:

1. HD DAC and balanced headphone amplifier: xDSD Gryphon uses a Burr-Brown MultiBit in its Ultra-Res digital stage and PureWave analogue power stage that can output 1,000mW. It's designed to work well with serious headphones.

2. connections: xDSD Gryphon has separate Bluetooth, DAC, and amplifier stages, each optimised for maximum performance. It can connect to digital sources via USB, S/PDIF, or Bluetooth, and analogue sources via 4.4mm or 3.5mm inputs.

3. Bluetooth: The device uses the latest QCC 5100 series Bluetooth v5.1, supporting aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, LDAC, HWA/LHDC, regular aptX, aptX Low Latency, AAC and SBC. It has distinct sections for reception, jitter, and DAC conversion.

4. cable connections: For cable connections, the xDSD Gryphon handles a wide range of formats using a hybrid Burr-Brown DAC chipset. It supports various levels of PCM, DSD, DXD and MQA on USB, as well as PCM and DoP on S/PDIF.

5. Power: Gryphon's PureWave amplification circuit can output 1,000mW at 32 Ohms and a maximum of 6.7v. It is designed to drive high-impedance headphones with ease and has dedicated outputs for balanced and single-ended headphones. It also features iEMatch technology to reduce noise from high-sensitivity headphones without losing dynamic range.

6. Customisable audio: xDSD Gryphon offers XSpace to add back the sound stage in recordings and XBass II to adjust the bass for open headphones or specific recordings. Users can select 'Bass' and/or 'Presence' under XBass II to add back upper midrange frequencies. The device also offers three digital filters (Bit-Perfect, Standard and GTO) to fine-tune the sound.

7. display: xDSD Gryphon has an OLED display, which shows all the necessary information from sound format to battery life.
