DC-Blocker removes the hum from amplifiers. If you plug your ear, or if it is really bad, you can hear a humming sound from the listening position. This is because a small DC voltage finds its way to the transformer which becomes "saturated" and starts humming.
IFi Audio has developed a nifty little device that plugs into the power socket of your device. On the back of the CD-Blocker you insert your power cable. The DC-Blocker prevents DC currents from entering the amplifier.

The Ifi Audio DC Blocker is a device designed to eliminate the mechanical hum often produced by large amplifiers, especially those with significant toroidal transformers. This hum is caused by a small amount of DC voltage in the mains cable, which can saturate the main transformer and cause it to hum. The DC Blocker is placed at the IEC (power input on the back) of the amplifier and blocks DC voltage from entering the amplifier, preventing the hum.
